Tandjung Sari is a precious original. One of Bali's best kept secrets, this hotel was opened in 1962 as four-bungalow extension to his family home by Indonesian proprietor Wija Wawo-Runtu. Today's 28-bungalows Tandjung Sari, set in luxuriant tropical gardens on Bali's elegant Sanur beach, retains the exclusive ambience of a private family retreat.

From the moment the ceremonial welcome gong is struck to herald their arrivals, the guests at Tandjung Sari enter a tranquil sanctum watched over by almost a hundred discreet Indonesian staff dedicated to their personal comforts.

Every Tandjung Sari bungalows is as individual and special as the guests themselves. Each Balinese- style unit has its own private garden, some the sensual freedom of an open-air room tandjung sari shower. All provide top quality modern conveniences from air-conditioning, king- and queen-size beds, baths and bidets, to telephones with International Direct Dialing facilities, refrigerators and hair driers.

Large bedroom/living room with king size bed and two sofas convertible to single beds. Large bathroom with private outdoor shower in courtyard and private 'bale" in garden.

Two-storey Bungalows: (5 units)
Upstairs bedroom with queen size bed and windows on three sides looking out into the garden. Downstairs living room with queen size day bed, dressing room and bathroom.

Garden Sea View Bungalow: (1 unit)
Large bedroom/living room with queen size bed and bathroom. Covered porch with sea view and private courtyard with Lilly pond and outdoor shower.

Garden Bungalow: (1 unit)
Upstairs living room with garden view. Ground floor bedroom with queen size bed with private courtyard and covered porch.

Upstairs living room with ocean views. Ground floor bedroom and bathroom with private courtyard and outdoor shower. Open verandah leads to garden.

Twin Bedroom Bungalows: (2 units)
Two separate bedrooms each with their own bathroom and covered terrace, under one roof.

Family Bungalow: (1 unit)
Two bedrooms with king size beds, ensuite bathrooms and private courtyards. Living and dinning areas. Upstairs covered porch with sea view

The layout of the grounds, with its winding, rambling pathways, gives the hotel a relaxed and leisurely feel. The alang-alang thatched roofs, the red brickwork and the warm browns of the woodwork blend in with the greens of the landscaping to create an exotic visual image which is accompanied by the ever-present sound of waves lapping the shore.
