Tsunami alarmed during Christmas day

The morning day of Christmas on 25th December 2009 at 10.00 am, Bali local government-activating alarm sound of Tsunami devices called ina-TEWS or Indonesia Tsunami Early Warning System, located at 6 hot spots of Nusa dua, Seminyak, Kedonganan - Jimbaran, Sanur and Tanjung Benoa.

Bali Head of integration unit for disaster prevention, a Bali local government body, Mr Anong Agustina said that activation of the alarm was intended for training as well as to find out whether the alarm devices are working well and in good condition. His teams also have announced that there's no need to be panic during the alarm sounded to all beach visitors during the training. The sound of these alarms can be heard for maximum of 3 kilometers from where the location of the devices are located.

He added that this tranining has been conducted for 3 times since October and must be undergone for monthly basis as to evaluate and to make sure the Tsunami alarm devices are working well and in good condition.
