Indonesia initiated Bali Democracy Forum 10 - 11 December 09

In order to develop democracy within regions of Asia, Indonesia initiated to open yearly forum titled Bali Democracy Forum that will be launched by Indonesia foreign minister, Mr Hasan Wirajuda. Bali Democracy forum has a purpose to promote regional partnership in term of democracy issues and for political development within Asian region. This forum exclusively dedicated for democratic countries but more inclusively for countries in the region for shares the expertise and experience to strengthen democracy.

Mr. Hasan said that the intention of the Bali Democracy forum is to create comprehensive dialogue between nations and their people to form a better democracy for the next generation. He expected this forum will form the ideal democracy within Asian countries.

To manage Bali democracy forum (BDF) activities, there be an institute of peace and democracy that will be centralized at the University of Udayana, Bali. The memorandum of understanding will be signed by both foreign minister and the dean of University of Udayana, Bali.

The BDF forum for foreign ministerial level will be conducted in Grand Hyatt Nusa Dua Bali dated 10 – 11 December 2009. While prior to the event, the expert group preparatory meeting (EGPM) has been conducted the meeting earlier on 9 – 11 November 2009 in Nusa Dua, Bali.
